- Louisiana Ghostbusters with 501st Legion
On Saturday April 6th the Louisiana Ghostbusters kicked off Autism Awareness month with an appearance at Why Walk When You Can SOAR! This event was held in Mandeville,LA at Tammany Trace as part of Northshore’s Families Helping Families. It was their Third annual autism awareness walk and family fun day.
Randy, Denise, Jacques, Nick, and Damon were all in attendance along with a couple of pesky little Slimers. During the event we stayed busy posing for pictures with children, parents and grandparents alike. In addition taking the time to answer all sorts of questions to the inquisitive ones. As the day progressed we took to the track with the many different teams in attendance. While making our lap we met up with some friends from the local 501st Legion, Piper the Pelican from Hammond’s Children Museum, and Gumbo the Saints mascot.
After our stint on the track we returned to the ECTO for more photo opportunities with attendees. While posing we began to hear a very familiar sound coming from the events DJ Booth. We dispatched to investigate and sure enough Ray Parker Jr’s Ghostbusters Theme was blaring across the sound system. Nicholas, Jacques & Damon had no choice but to break out into an impromptu Ghostbusters Shuffle to the delight of the crowd. I mean really was there any other option?! We were soon joined by several children as a larger crowd gathered. What a great way for us to end this amazing event.
The event was a great success for the Louisiana Ghostbusters in keeping with our charitable acts and community service.
