Carnival season is always an excellent time for the Louisiana Ghostbusters to make some tidy donations for our spring charity, Relay for Life.  The charity benefits the American Cancer Society.  Unique opportunities once again presented themselves this past few months leading to Mardi Gras, and though we did get rained out of one appearance, there were still some great things going on.  See the bottom of this blog for an album of images ripe with awesomeness.

Manager Jack Dupuy yells at people. Loudly.

Perhaps the highlight of our early earnings efforts was the Krewe Mystique Mardi Gras parade in Baton Rouge.  This was our second year to be invited to the parade, and again, the Mardi Gras Krewe was exceptionally generous in offering us a sizeable donation for participating in the parade.  Though we were unable to get our friends from Houston or Mississippi to join us this year, we did have a very strong turnout of a dozen Louisiana Ghostbusters, including 5 eager Rookies!

This year we added to the vehicle total of Ecto LA-1 and Ecto LA-2 by including a trailor/float behind the Ecto LA-1 with much more beefy a sound system and more space for our brobusters to ride when the walking go tiring.  This is a very long parade, so it was nice to have a readily available ice chest, someone to hand us throws to distribute, and a place to put a generator to power our Ecto accessories and music.

After the parade the gang took a few minutes to meet the rookies over pizza at a nearby sports bar.  Thanks so much for wanting to be a part of the Louisiana Ghostbusters, guys!

The following week, LAGB was supposed to participate for our first time in the Krewe of Chewbacchus Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans.  We watched the

weather very closely that day and unfortunately a line of very severe weather cut off most of us from New Orleans without risking very hazardous travel and damaging our props, so we decided not to attend.  We want to thank the Krewe of Chewbaccus for their invitation and gracious offer to make a donation in our name to Relay for Life.  The good news?  One of our member’s family has volunteered to make up the loss of that donation!  Thanks so much to that special someone for your pledge of a donation!  You’re a hero!

We also have some very exciting news in the works regarding a very sizeable donation from a location we’ll keep secret for now somewhere down in the Lafourche area.  Stay tuned for that exciting news as it further materializes!

If you’d like to help the Louisiana Ghostbusters save the day and bring more birthdays to those battling cancer, please visit our team website HERE where you can join our team to take to the track all night in late April at the Slidell Relay for Life; OR you can make a direct donation to help us reach our goals!
