This was our first parade of the Mardi Gras season. We had a good showing of 24 people which included children of active members. Despite the threat of rain, we had one of our members celebrating his birthday in the rain with us (Happy Birthday Tim). We had CJ’s Ecto, Duane’s support vehicle (ECTO-LA5) and David’s Honda Ridgeline ECTO conversion (He came all the way from Alabama to be with us!). The parade rolled a little after 2:00 PM with a light sprinkle. The crowds were more than expected with the cold and rain, but more than that, they were excited to see us. As the parade progressed, the rain picked up but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the crowds. We made it through to the end a little wetter than we started but it’s all for a good cause. This parade helps put us closer to our goal for the year for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. Stay tuned, we have two more Mardi Gras parades to go!
